Gothic Basil- Garlic Hot Honey Bread Dip
Time to Prepare: 15 minutes
Kitchenware Needed: Sharp Knife, Cutting Board, Whisk, Small Mixing Bowl
Yield: 1/2 Cup, before Olive Oil
Extra Additions: 2-3 Tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil when ready to serve.
Ingredients:
1/4 Cup Fresh Basil, minced
4 Fresh Garlic Cloves, minced
1 Tablespoon Chili-Infused Honey (Mike’s Hot Honey was our preferred infused honey)
1/4 Cup Red Wine Vinegar
1/4 Cup Balsamic Vinegar
1/2 Teaspoon Granulated Onion
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
1/4 Teaspoon Black Pepper
1/4 Teaspoon White Pepper
1/8 Teaspoon Paprika
2-3 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil, when ready to serve.
Directions:
With a sharp knife and a medium-sized cutting board, mince washed basil leaves and garlic cloves and add to the small mixing bowl. Add the Chile-Infused Honey to the mixing bowl.
Whisk the basil, garlic, and Chile-Infused Honey together. Let sit for 2-3 minutes while gathering other ingredients.
After a few minutes have passed, add the Red Wine and Balsamic additions to the mixing bowl. Whisk to combine.
Next, add the dried spices - Granulated Onion, Salt, White Pepper, Black Pepper, and Paprika. Whisk to combine.
When ready to serve, combine 1-2 Tablespoons of herb mixture to 2-3 tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil and pair with your favorite crusty bread.
Notes:
When using fresh herbs, proper refrigeration is essential. Store the herb mixture in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
Add Olive Oil when you are ready to serve.
Adding Olive Oil prior to refrigeration may cause the fats in the oil to congeal at lower temperatures. This is a natural process. This recipe can also be used as a salad dressing - if adding olive oil prior to refrigeration, give the mixture ample time to come to room temperature before serving.
